The 2nd phase of the Spanish Alpine Ski Cup 2024 arrives at the Catalan resort of La Molina

From 23 to 25 February, La Molina will host the second phase of the Spanish Alpine Ski Cup in U14 and U16 categories. For three days, the resort will host this sporting event acting as a farmhouse for winter sports and promoting competition among the future generation of skiers in our country. After kicking off Sierra Nevada from February 1st to 3rd, it is now the turn of the Girona part of the Catalan Pyrenees to receive this competition.

 

The Spanish Cup is a circuit of special relevance and interest to promote athletes towards the high level, where young people can compete in a total safety environment and with an excellent organization. Over the years, this competition has proven to be a vital platform for the development of local sport and to promote tourism in ski resorts. In addition, it brings together the future generation of national professionals who want to take examples of skiers such as Albert Ortega, Quim Salarich or Núria Pau; skiers who started the competition in La Molina and have already emerged internationally.

 

For this Spanish Cup, the 25 best national runners in the U14 and U16 categories have been classified. The competition is organized by La Molina Club d'Esports (LMCE), the Federació Catalana d'Esports d'Hivern (FCEHand the Real Federación Española de Deportes de Invierno (RFEDI). The objective of these tests is to support local clubs and regional federations in the promotion of this sport. In addition, it is an excellent opportunity for families accompanying the runners to enjoy a weekend.

 

La Molina station is already working on the preparation of the Torrent Negre area, in the Solell and Plans stadiums for a perfect development of the competition. On Friday 23rd, two Supergiants will be played. On Saturday 24, a slalom and Sunday 25 a Giant Slalom.

 

The current classification of the Spanish Cup for clubs is led by the Catalan team Club Aranes Esport d’Iuern (CAEI), followed by the Terra Racing Team (TRTeam) also Catalan and in third position are followed by the Aragonese team Club Esquí Jaca (CEJCA).

 

In the individual category, the current leader in U16 women is the Catalan Nur Torres (CAEI-FCEH), in U16 men the leader in the classification is Pablo Echegoyen (FORMI-FADI) of the Aragonese Federation. In category U14, Inés Fern.ndez (WCAMP-FADI) of the Andalusian Federation and Quim Parramon (TRTeam-FCEH) of the Federació Catalana.

 

And to end the season, the Spanish Championships will take place as the 3rd and final phase of the Spanish Cup at the Catalan Espot Ski resort from 22 to 24 March.

 

La Masia of winter sports at full capacity this season

Apart from the Spanish Cup, La Molina has been the scene of several national competitions, such as the 26th Track Track! held on February 17 or the next 11th Banc de Sabadell CEAP Gran Premi that will take place during the weekend of the Cup, on February 24 and 25, together with other events. In addition to the competitions, several clubs and federations in France, Andorra and Spain have chosen La Molina station as a training place, seeking sports excellence in the Masía de los Asportes de Hibernadas.
